Objective

The mystery which surrounds the meeting places and the training with Don Juan causes a reader to be just as confused as Carlos can be during these books. Today's objective is to discuss the power of mystery in the learning process and whether it is better to know everything or to know nothing before learning something new.

Lesson

1. Have each student describe one subject at school in which they feel they know nothing.

2. In smaller groups, have students discuss whether they think it's easier to be in a class where they know what the teacher will cover.

3. As a class, have the students discuss the power of not knowing what they're doing. What does this mystery cause them to do? Do they learn better in these situations? Do they have more trouble learning?
