The man finds himself in the castle in the Dreaming, being given a tour by Lucien, the librarian. The library is full of books dreamed of but never written. He is introduced to the other characters in the world, including Matthew the Raven; Nuala, the fairy cleaner and finally Lord Morpheus.
2. Who is Nuala?
Nuala is a fairy given to Lord Morpheus as a present or bribe. She works cleaning and caretaking in the castle, claiming she rarely misses her home, even though she had once been more beautiful.
3. Describe the character of Matthew.
Matthew is a raven who was once a human. He lives in a cave with Lady Eve and calls Lord Morpheus "the Boss." His main concern in life is the fates of the ravens who came before him.
4. How does Lord Morpheus change the man's dream?
Lord Morpheus appears and tells Lucien that the dreamer is not the guest for whom they have been waiting. The dreamer is about to ask Morpheus to explain his dreams and reveal some secrets, when he is woken by his wake-up call at the hotel.
