Ship-Trap Island

This is the setting for most of the story; it is a mysterious island in the Caribbean that is feared by sailors.

The Chateau

This is General Zaroff's home; it is a large house that is built more like a fortress than like an ordinary home.

The Training School

General Zaroff uses this term to refer to his cellar, where he gets sailors ready to be hunted.

The Death Swamp

This area on the southeastern part of the island is filled with quicksand and is the one place that Zaroff warns Rainsford not to go.

The Amazon
