Lesson

1) Library Research: Have the students research the author, Marlys Millhiser. Explore the other works she has written, as well as her background. Take a look at interviews and articles on Millhiser to gain information on her writing and where "The Mirror" fits in with her other novels.

2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Millhiser and her canon. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Millhiser during their presentation. At the end of the presentations, have students compare the tone and style of "The Mirror" with Millhiser's other works.
