Characters

Huynh Quang Nhuong - He was born in 1946 to a rice farmer. Living in the highlands, he very much enjoyed hunting for birds' and golden eels and raiding otters' parties. Close proximity to death and his harsh environs did not seem to faze him. On the contrary, he spent most of his days carefree and happy.

Nhuong's Grandmother - She married a man who was, in contrast to her, weak and timid. Yet she stuck by him and even helped him develop the myth that he was an expert fighter.
