Puppet Show

Split the class into groups and assign each group one portion of this story. Have each group create a puppet show of their section to present to the class. Have them later write about why their assigned portion was so important to the plot.

Phrenology

Bring in a chart or book about phrenology and do readings on the students to see what Isola would have thought of them after learning more about them in this fashion.

Letters to Soldiers

The war plays a major role in this plot. Find a list of active duty soldiers and have the students write letters with questions and thank yous to the soldiers.
