This lesson will introduce the class to Ovid, discussing his origins, the influence of his works, and the society he lives in.

Lesson

1. Preparatory activity: Divide the class into four groups. Assign each group to research the topic given to them at home for homework. Assign the first group to research a general biography of Ovid, the second group to research what other writers were his contemporaries and what kind of literature was produced during his the time he was writing, the third group to research his works; how they were received and how they are thought of today; and the fourth group to research the influence or message of his work on literature through the centuries. Give each group ten to fifteen minutes to organize for their research.
