This book is autobiographical. The objective of this lesson will be to review some major aspects of Jean-Dominique Bauby's life, and to discuss how the autobiographical nature affects the believability and the feeling of the book.

Lesson

1) Provide a brief overview of Jean-Dominique Bauby's life along with some of the major events in his life. Split the class into groups and assign each group one of the major events from his life. Instruct each group to study their event and write about how this event would have shaped his life and affected his writing style. Allow each group to present their information. Discuss some of the different ideas that are presented.
