Triffids

These objects suddenly, simultaneously, and mysteriously appear all over the world. They are initially regarded as exotic but harmless, strangely mobile, an excellent source of nutrition and occasionally dangerous, but eventually reveal themselves to be predatory, apparently intelligent, and active in their pursuit of control over the land and its people.

Satellites

These are potential sources of artificially created disease and military destruction, and a link in the mysterious chain of events that resulted in the creation of the environment that would make it possible for the triffids to dominate.
