Hearing as a Sense
In the book, several individuals are forced by blindness to use their sense of hearing to discern the world around them. Have each student put on a blindfold and pay attention to their world through sound. Note what sounds tell you about position of things, placement of people, and the business of the world.
In the novel, triffids are kept as entertainment in gardens throughout the world, even though they are shown to be quite dangerous.
