This is a biographical book the author wrote about her mother's life. The objective of this lesson will be to review some major aspects of Hing Chong's life, and to discuss how the book being biographical affects the plot and the tone of the book.

Lesson

1) Life Review of Author: Provide a brief overview of Hing Chong's life along with some of the major events in her life. Split the class into groups and assign each group one of the major events from her life. Instruct each group to study their event and write about how this event would have shaped her life and affected her writing style. Allow each group to present their information. Discuss some of the different ideas that are presented.
