Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette was a French author who lived from 1873 to 1954. Colette was norn in the Burgundy region of France to Jules-Joseph Colette and Adele Eugenie Sidonie Landoy. Although Colette was married, after she left her husband, she had a relationship with Natalie Barney and then remarried, then had a relationship with her stepson. She remarried later and used Sidonie Goudeket as her name. Colette was approached to produce work for playhouses and operas, but she devoted much of her time to writing novels and later entered the world of modern poetry. At the time of her death in Paris in 1954, Colette had published 50 novels. The objective of this lesson is to discuss the background and writings of Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, also known as Colette.
