The objective of this lesson is to examine John's character and the type of person that the author portrays John to be. John is basically a good kid who does what he is told and gets along well at home and school. However, he has a bad habit of eating candy and not sharing it with anyone else.

Lesson

Class discussion: In what ways is John a nice boy? When does he break rules? For the most part, what is his behavior like? When could his behavior be improved? How does John get along with his family? How does he get along at school? What is John's biggest weakness? How does John's weakness affect his health? Why would he be described as greedy? What type of person does the author portray John to be?
