This object symbolizes a number of different elements in Arrow's life over the course of the narrative. When she used this object during her university years, it was directed only toward pieces of paper, so at that point, this object represented the mastery of a hobby. When this character made a deal with Nermin Filipovic to work as a sniper defending the city under siege and later to defend the cellist during his 22 days of protest, this object came to represent a transformation that could never be undone, for once Arrow uses this object to take a human life, she knows that she will never be the same.
