Noted Polymath

Franklin was not only one of America's Founding Fathers, but a noted polymath. He was a leading author and printer, political theorist, politician, satirist, scientist, inventor, statesman, soldier, civic activist, and diplomat. Have the students research Benjamin Franklin's history in one of these or other aspects of his life. Have each student then give a brief presentation before the class.

Farmer's Almanac

It is said hardly a household in Philadelphia was without a copy in its time. Have students write an entry for Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac as though writing for his era and from his perspective.

Choose An Occupation

Although Franklin had many interests, he was a printer and writer by trade. Students are to choose an occupation they would pursue if alive in his lifetime and write a brief summary explaining their reasons why.
