Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze how Journeyman sees himself in the context of the Tinderwick community. Journeyman is a former Hollywood television and movie script writer who was visiting his sister Maddy, an organic farmer, in the small Maine community of Tinderwick when the world-changing "Arrest" - a mysterious event that stopped all machinery, electronics, and communications dead in their tracks - occurred. Some years following this seismic event, Journeyman works as an assistant to the community's butcher and a delivery person for food. Journeyman cannot help but feel that he is still an outsider to the community, as he had come as a visitor and did not leave out of necessity.
