Objective

History of Anglo-Saxon literature.

It is very important for students to be aware of the period during which the text was written. The background normally provides a better understanding of material; therefore, students should be made aware of the happenings from the period about which they are reading. The objective of this lesson is to examine the basics associated with Anglo-Saxon history.

Lesson

1. Class Discussion- Pull up a map of historical Anglo-Saxon lands. Have students make assumptions about the lands based on their current knowledge of the areas. What do you know about the lands? Historically, what problems were associated with these locations? What main battles were fought there? What were the main issues between the lords of competing lands?
