Objective

Objective: The students will be able to identify important relationships in novels.

1) Possible Activities:

* Have the students work together in pairs to discuss Mason and Tex's relationship as it has been revealed to us so far by the author. Have each pair share out to the whole class.
* Have the students compare their relationship with a sibling to that of Mason and Tex's as it has been developed so far. The students can share orally or in a reader response journal.
* Have the students discuss the relationship that might exist between Tex and Mason and their father who is often gone for very long periods of time.

Homework:
Have the students respond in writing: Are Mason's feelings as he describes them to Bob justified? Why or why not.

Challenge:
Have the students research and present to the class their findings on the rodeo circuit.
