Essay Topics

Many battles are fought over religion. Although religion was not a major factor in the reason for the battles, it played a part in the creation of allies and loyalty. Analyze the pacts, promises and betrayals of the kings due to religious beliefs.

Theridimas was easily convinced to switch sides after speaking with Tamburlaine. What caused Theridimas to switch sides? Was there any coercion for Theridimas to make this decision? Was the decision any reflection on Theridimas' relationship with Mycetes and/or Cosroe? What does this move say about Theridimas' trustworthiness? Should Tamburlaine trust Theridimas?

A common theme in the play is deception. What made it so easy for soldiers and regents to switch sides before battle? Are there any cases in which the traitors were justified?
