In the prologue of this book, the reader learns that Susan Martin, the wife of a wealthy businessman, Teddy Martin was murdered. This lesson will focus on how the discovery of Susan Martin's death foreshadows a sensational murder investigation.

Lesson

1.) Class Discussion: Students will discuss the police reaction to discovering Susan Martin's body. How are the police able to identify the body immediately? What might this foreshadow about the murder investigation? How do the police characterize Teddy Martin? Why do the police keep this murder off the police radio? What do the police actions foreshadow about this particular murder? Would the police take similar actions if Susan Martin were the wife of someone else?
