Lesson

1) Library research: Have the students research the author, Dan Simmons. Explore other work he has written, as well as his personal background. Take a look at interviews and the author's official website to gain information on his writing and where "Summer of Night" fits in with his other novels.

2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Dan Simmons and his canon. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Dan Simmons during their presentation.
