1. How does the structure of Chapter 1 differ from a standard novel?

The chapter introduces three sets of characters that have no connection to each other. What connects them is an on-coming hurricane in Florida. Each of the sets of characters will be affected by the hurricane.

2. How do the characters introduced in Chapter 1 differ from each other?

Bonnie and Max are business people from New York who just got married. Edie and Snapper are criminals out to scam a buck.Jack and Webo are college boys who obviously come from money as they are driving a Lexus and hanging out in the Florida Keys.

3. How does the weather create conflict in Chapter 1?

Each of the sets of characters will experience a hurricane in some fashion. For Bonnie and Max it will create conflict between them as she does not want to experience it and she does; for Edie and Snapper the conflict will come to their victims; for Jack and Webo the conflict will be explaining the damage to Webo's father's Lexus and perhaps from the man they left hanging on the bridge.
