Written by British television and film writer Anthony Horowitz, the Alex Rider series is a highly popular series aimed at young adults, and this novel was made into a movie in 2006. Nine novels have been published in the series since "Stormbreaker" was released in 2000.

In Chapter 1, "Funeral Voices," Alex wakes in the middle of the night to the sound of knocking on the door.
