Not only was the stone angel made of stone, but it was also carved without eyeballs. The stone angel was there to guide the townspeople to heaven, but had no eyes to see how to get there.

Even though the weeds and wild flowers are kept at bay at the edge of the cultivated ground, they are still there and you can smell them. This depicts Hagar's wild nature and the society rules which contain her.
