Objective

Prologue--The Stars my Destination is set in an imagined future. Because the setting is as much of a character as the characters themselves, students will understand and describe the background of the Golden Age which forms the backdrop of the book.

Lesson

1) Writing assignment: Based on the information in the Prologue, write two paragraphs describing the situation in which The Stars My Destination opens.

2) One-on-one: In pairs, have students discuss the conflict between the Inner Planets and the Outer Satellites. Call on two or three spokespersons from each pair to describe the war and its causes.
