Object Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Objects

Folsom Prison - Located in Represa, California, this was "home" to Cleaver for many years.

Watts - This is an area of Los Angeles known to be a slum area, or "ghetto," largely populated by minorities.

The Folsom Theatre - This is known as such because of movies shown there on Sundays in 1965 when Cleaver was a prisoner.

Folsom's Honor Unit - A place held for those offenders who had clean records for at least six months. Those prisoners got specific advantages, including additional television time, larger cells and less custodial supervision.
