Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.
Characters
Abou - This character, Daba Fall's husband, believes in equality between spouses. He helps Daba recover some of her father's possessions after Moudou Fall's death.
Amy - See Aminata Fall.
Aissatou Bâ - Ramatoulaye's best friend is also an educated woman. When her husband took a second wife, this character refused to condone his actions and divorced him.
Mawdo Bâ - Aissatou's husband and Moudou's best friend, this character, is a renowned doctor who married Aissatou despite his family's objections.
