Each mother in the Chatterjee home serves a different purpose. Pishi, the girls' widowed aunt, and she loves to tell the girls stories. Gouri is Anju's birth mother and also the leader of the family. Sudha finds her to be a source of great pride. Nalini is Sudha's birth mother, and Sudha finds her to be beautiful but always disappointed and worried. This lesson will focus on the significant role that each mother plays in the girls' lives.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: What is the role of each of the mothers in the Chatterjee family - Nalini, Pishi, and Gouri? How did each come to be a member of the family? Which mother do you think is most essential? Would they still be a good team if they were separated? Why is this type of motherhood the best for this family?
