Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters
Major Richard Sharpe - He is the principal protagonist of the novel and is present in most of the scenes in the narrative.
Regimental Sergeant Major Patrick Harper - He is a long-time friend and fellow soldier of Sharpe and the two men have fought together in many previous campaigns.
Captain William Frederickson - He is a company commander of the Royal American Rifles. He has enjoyed a long association with the 60th Rifles and is well-liked and even admired by the men serving in his company.
