This section contains 30 daily lessons. Each one has a specific objective and offers at least three (often more) ways to teach that objective. Lessons include classroom discussions, group and partner activities, in-class handouts, individual writing assignments, at least one homework assignment, class participation exercises and other ways to teach students about the text in a classroom setting. Lesson 1

Objective: Chapter 1, Anna and Chapter 2, Kallyhocuses "Shadows on the Koyukuk" is a memoir of Sidney Huntington's life. The first chapter gives a look at Sidney's mother and her and her family's life living on the land in the Koyukuk River valley. This lesson looks at Anna's life on the Koyukuk with her father and her husband.
