Objective

Objective: Chapters 1 and 2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS - In this chapter, Seth recalls his first impressions of his best friend Samona. Initially, he thought she was crazy, but soon became endeared to her unique ways. The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the theme of first impressions, as Seth recollects his first days of school with Samona.

1) 1.) As a class, create a list of adjectives that were used to describe Samona as she was making her first impression on the students that would be her classmates. What clothing did Samona choose to wear for her first impression? Does this surprise you? Why or why not?

2.) As a class, compare / contrast Seth's first impression of Samona with the rest of the class' first impression of the new student. What is the same about their first impressions? What is different? Is there anything unexpected / surprising in this comparison...
