Chronology Activity

Write down events from the book, general or specific. Cut the paper into strips with each event separate, and have the students draw them out of a hat. Then draw a long line on the chalkboard. Have the students come up, one by one, and place their event where they think it should be. As a class, go over the timeline and discuss any errors/disagreements.

Role Play

Have the students choose a character in the book and write a monologue from the point of view of that character. Have volunteers read theirs aloud. Encourage them to write in the same manner as the writer-try and get them to create a voice.

Drama Class

Have the class split into groups and choose a scene from the novel. Have them write a short script and act it out in class.
