This book is a collection of short stories. The objective of this lesson will be to discuss this unique genre of literature and to discuss some of the reasons why this genre would have been so appealing for the author to use to tell these stories.

Lesson

1) Genre Introduction Activity: Prepare a short lesson to introduce the genre of short stories. Explain to the students what differentiates this genre from other literary styles. Show some examples of this from books that they have or will be reading in your class. Answer any questions the students may have about this.

2) Class Discussion: William Faulkner, a famous novelist, has written a large number of short stories. Why do you think he did this? How does this short story format fit his style? Do you like it? Why or why not? Why would he not have wanted...
