Hunter S. Thompson (1937 - 2005) was an American journalist and author who is credited as the creator of Gonzo journalism, a style of reporting where reporters involve themselves in the action to such a degree that they become central figures of their stories. Screw-jack is a collection of three short semi-autobiographical narratives including "Mescalito," "Death of a Poet," and "Screwjack." In today's lesson, students are introduced to the author Hunter S. Thompson. They will research and discuss Thompson's biography, works, and style.

Lesson

1) Teacher Lecture: Introduce the class to the book and author. Hunter S. Thompson was an American journalist and author and will be the focus of today's research.
