Fun Classroom Activities

The 20 enjoyable, interactive classroom activities that are included will help your students understand the text in amusing ways. Fun Classroom Activities include group projects, games, critical thinking activities, brainstorming sessions, writing poems, drawing or sketching, and more that will allow your students to interact with each other, be creative, and ultimately grasp key concepts from the text by "doing" rather than simply studying.

1. Journal

Pretend that you are one of the main characters in Sacred Hunger, and write a journal entry about one of the major events on the Liverpool Merchant.

2. Love Letter

Write a letter from Erasmus to Sarah, explaining why he has decided to break up with her; or write a letter from Sarah to Erasmus, explaining her affectionate feelings toward him.

Briefly research what the climate of the Atlantic slave trade was like, and summarize your findings.
