Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Azar Nafisi - This character grows up in Tehran, then goes to Europe and America for further education. While abroad, this character becomes homesick for Iran, and returns to Tehran during a time when Iran was beginning a revolution.

Nafisi's students - These characters demonstrate a deep commitment to the study of literature, and participate in a secret study group held weekly in the home of a university professor.
