Create a Relationship Map

Create a visual representation something like a family tree, on which you depict the relationships, both past and present, among all of the different people depicted in Jimenez’s memoir Reaching Out.

Create a Timeline

Create a large timeline of the events covered within the pages of Reaching Out. Include visual images that correspond to different events within the timeline.

Write a Poem

Write a poem about one of the main people in the memoir, attempting to get across the essence of your chosen person’s personality.

Make an Audio Recording

Choose a passage from Reaching Out that features sensory details concerning sound. Then create an audio recording of the scene and play it for the class. The scene you choose need not be one that includes dialogue.
