• The following version of this book was used to create this Lesson Plan: Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. Harper Collins, 2017.

• The book is written in the first-person perspective from the point of view of Patricia Williams, also known as Rabbit, or alternatively as Pat.

• In the Introduction, Pat was living in Indianapolis and had just moved into a new place with her family when her neighbor, a white woman, brought a cake over.

• Pat was puzzled and called a friend asking what to do when a neighbor brings a cake for you. The friend said this was what white people did so that black people do not break into their houses.

• Pat grew up in the inner-city of Atlanta in a very poor family. Her Mama was an alcoholic and no one ever graduated from high school.
