When Steve saw the cross country team running for hours a day he thought they were nutty. He couldn't understand why anyone would want to spend so much time running.

2. What changed Steve's attitude about running?

Steve's attitude about running was changed by his participation in a three week conditioning program. Steve participated in the program through his physical education class. After participating in the program and realizing that he had talent as a runner he started to become interested in running.

3. What caused Steve not to meet his running goals for his first season?

Steve was unable to meet his running goals because he was too concentrated on the performance of others. Steve concentrated on how others were doing and how he could beat them, so that caused him not to concentrate on his own performance. Because of the lack of concentration on what he should be doing he placed much lower in meets than he could have.
