Objective

The novel POSSESSION is about connections between the past and the present. The London Library represents this to Roland. The objective of this lesson is to understand Roland's connection with the past.

Lesson

1) Ask the students to research the history of a place that is important to them, and find out who used that place, and how, in the past. Have the students share what they've found out. As a class, discuss the connection between the past and the present. How does the past affect the present? Is the information they've found out meaningful to them?
