Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.
Characters
Madame Aung - She is characterized as small, tidy and bright. Her only action in the play is to begin to tell the story of an Ingmar Bergman film she recently viewed.
Monsieur Aung - The stage directions describe him as almost permanently smiling--short [and] dogmatic.
Raymond Brock - He is an ingenuous figure, not yet thirty, with a small mustache and a natural energy he finds hard to contain in the proper manner.
Sir Andrew Charleson - He is the Chief Clerk in charge of personnel matters for the Foreign Service.
