Objective

The genre of "Pao" is historical fiction or realistic fiction. Although the story is not true, it could have happened. The objective of this lesson is to discuss the genre of the novel.

Lesson

1) Research: Look up these terms and write definitions for each term: genre, novel, fiction and non-fiction. Research these genres: adventure, historical fiction, and realistic fiction. Write a short explanation discussing what each genre has in common and what is different about each genre. Does the plot of an adventure novel revolve around danger and problems the protagonist has to solve? What would be the setting of a historical fiction novel? When a novel is classified as realistic fiction, does it seem as though story did or could happen? What is the difference between historical fiction and realistic fiction?
