Have the students research traditional Indian marriage ceremonies and celebrations. Then, based on their research, plan and hold a marriage celebration.

Wipe Out Hunger

Hunger and starvation was a major issue and struggle for Rukmani and her family. Have the class organize a school-wide food drive. Then, once the food drive has been completed, deliver the food to a local food shelter.

Rice Fest

Have each student identify his or her favorite rice dish. Then, have "Rice Fest." At Rice Fest, have each student bring in their favorite rice dish and the dish's recipe to share with the class.

Imagine it is time for you to marry. Although your parents will arrange your marriage, they have asked for some input into what you think they should consider when selecting your spouse. What would you include on your list?
