Class Discussion: Where does Vanderpool get the ideas for her stories? Where does she get ideas for her settings and characters? What is her writing process like? Why does she enjoy writing? What does she believe is necessary for writers to find and to allow to guide their writing? How does she use her own voice in her writing?
Activity: Create a chart or poster that shows these things: books Vanderpool has written, any awards she won for writing, and what critics say about her writing.
