Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Characters

Mrs. Boyle - A large imposing woman in a bad temper.

Miss Casewell - A young woman who is masculine in appearance and with a masculine voice.

Christopher Wren - A wild-looking neurotic young man with an appreciation for fine furniture.

Major Metcalf - A middle-aged, square-shouldered, military in manner and bearing.

Mr. Paravicini - A foreign, dark, elderly man with a small flamboyant mustache.

Giles Ralston - An arrogant, attractive man in his twenties. Married to Mollie.

Mollie Ralston - A tall, pretty young woman in her twenties. Married to Giles.
