Community Research Project

Have the students research one of the communities used as the setting of the story. The students will better understand the setting and worlds in which the characters live. They should include pictures of the community, the people who live here, population density, when the community was first established, etc. Their findings should be presented to the class in a short presentation.

Therapist Visit

Have a licensed therapist, social worker, or counselor present the class with information about how to become a licensed mental healthcare worker, what his or her work entails, and how they go about treating their patients. This information will help the students get a better idea of Graham‘s experience in therapy earlier in his life.
