Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.
Characters
Jean - He is the ambitious valet who engages in sexual relations with the main character. Although he is a servant, he longs for a higher social position.
Miss Julie - She does not understand her place in society as an aristocrat or as a woman; her confusion is the primary focus of the play.
Kristine - Unlike Jean and Julie, she recognizes her place in society and stays within what she considers proper bounds. Traditional in every way, she is also extremely religious.
