The objective of this lesson is to discuss Bogart, his character traits, what he does and how he relates to the other characters in "Miguel Street".

1) Hold a class discussion of the character, Bogart. His other nickname is "Patience". Patience is a type of Solitaire card game played by one person. Does that surprise you ? Or does it fit in with what you are reading about Bogart. The author characterizes Bogart as the most bored person he'd ever met. Do you think this is why he took his trips and had so many adventures in South America. Does this sound like a "bored" person? Why do you suppose the author thought he was bored?

2) Debate: Hold a cross class debate on whether Bogart is or is not a very "bored" person. Did his trips change him?
