1. Describe Catherine.

She is a young, attractive, Catholic woman who has experienced numerous personal problems. She has come to see Dr. Weiss about some of her problems.

2. How would you describe Catherine's relationship with her boyfriend, Stuart?

It is not a positive relationship. According to the author, Stuart is mean to her. Stuart is married but Catherine and he have been seeing each other for over six years.

3. Why is it significant that Catherine has a conservative Catholic background?

Because such a background would indicate that she would have little knowledge of reincarnation. Since this is a dominate theme in this book, the author seems to feel it is important to establish that Catherine was not inclined to delve into reincarnation.

4. Why do you think Dr. Weiss tells us about how Catherine was led to seek him out as her doctor?

Because he is trying to show how they were led to each other by forces greater than their physical circumstances. The existence of these forces is a driving theme in the book.
