Objective

Life in the Iron Mills and Other Stories is a collection of three short stories by American author and journalist Rebecca Harding Davis. This particular collection was reprinted by the Feminist Press in the early 1970s and includes “A Biographical Interpretation” written by feminist author Tillie Olsen. In this lesson, students will briefly research Rebecca Harding Davis and the original publication of “Life in the Iron Mills,” and will analyze and discuss the short story’s narrative and language style.
